I've been in financial planning for over 15 years, working my way through pretty much every role from reception to practice management. It's given me a really deep understanding of how everything fits together in this industry.

I enjoy feeling useful and making a difference, in both big and small ways. I'm not someone who needs to be front and centre - if you want me to take a seat on the bus and be a contributing part of the strategy and big picture, I buy in big time.

This work isn't just about numbers and forms - sometimes it gets really personal. In one case, I was asked to process a terminal illness claim for a husband who'd been diagnosed with a brain tumour. I had to get very personal very quickly - medical reports, sensitive information, all while this man was dying.

The insurer wasn't going to pay the claim because of a technicality, but I found a loophole and we got the payment, which was life-changing for the family. Unfortunately, the client passed away only a few months later, but I'm now personal friends with his spouse and we have regular chats about life.

I'm busy with my two kids' sporting and creative activities when I'm not at work. I love exploring local walking trails and wineries, usually with 80s music playing. I'm also into hiking, travelling around Australia, squash, touch footy, netball, gardening, architecture, and local history.

I volunteer at Toowoomba Squash Club and helped re-establish the facilities there. I'm also involved in Parent Connect at Concordia Lutheran College, planning and hosting events.

Fun fact: I'm a qualified personal trainer too!
